A Pet Owner's Feelings When Their Pet Is Sick

There was a day when my pet wouldn't eat.

The pet that usually would run over at the mere sound of the food bowl

was just curled up in a corner that day.

"What's wrong? Are you sick?"

Even though I knew there would be no answer,

I found myself asking over and over again.

That day, I realized for the first time that there is truly nothing a pet owner can do in front of a pet that cannot speak.

By the side of a pet that cannot say it is sick,

On the way to the vet,

Inside the carrier Looking at the curled-up child, I felt sorry for no reason.

'I should have noticed sooner.'

'Could it be because I changed the food?'

'Did I do something wrong?'

If you are a pet owner,

you have probably felt this feeling at least once.

That feeling of constantly blaming yourself even when you haven't done anything wrong.

That is what it feels like to be a pet owner.

While the veterinarian examined the animal in front of the examination room,

I waited outside.

That time when I could do nothing felt strangely long I could feel it.

Fortunately, it wasn't a serious illness.

As I walked out holding the prescribed medicine,

I could finally breathe a little.

When I returned home and saw my child start eating little by little,

I couldn't have been more grateful for that small sight.

Things You See More Clearly After Being Sick

Something has changed since my child got sick.

Things I used to just overlook when my child ate well,

Now, that alone gives me peace of mind.

Watching them drink water, lounging in the sunlight,

bringing a toy in their mouth.

Things I used to take for granted,

I only realized how precious they were after they got sick.

Healthy I learned that today is a gift thanks to the day my child was sick.

If you don't want to miss the signs that they are sick,

It's a sentimental post, but I want to give you just one thing.

These are the small signals our child sends.

When they don't eat or drink too much water differently than usual

When their activity level suddenly decreases or they keep licking the same spot

When vomiting or diarrhea lasts for more than a day

When there is unusual discharge from their eyes, nose, or ears

If you see these signs,

it is right to go to the vet immediately rather than watching them for a day or two.

Because our child cannot tell us they are in pain,

we need to notice it first Because that is what I do.

Is your child sleeping well today?

As you read this,

Some of you may be worried about your child.

If you are hoping for a speedy recovery and your child is sleeping well beside you right now,

please stroke them one more time today.

Hugging them often while they are healthy, before they get sick, is the best care. 🐾

Whether it's a dog or a cat, when they are sick, the warmest place is just the same

by their guardian's side.
